Christmas eve warm front; snow chance emerging Sunday and Monday

[ad_1]

Here comes another out-of-season warm front for Minnesota.

Minnesota is riding the tip of another unseasonably warm late December air mass. A warm pool of temperatures in the 60s and 70s covers the southern plains as close as Kansas Thursday. Highs in the 80s are common in Texas.

We hit 39 degrees in the Twin Cities Thursday afternoon. That’s 13 degrees warmer than our average of 26 degrees for December 23.

Christmas eve brings a mix of sun and a few clouds. Highs should push well into the 40s across southern Minnesota, with 50 degrees possible along the I-90 corridor.

Good travel weather through Christmas day

Overall travel weather looks good across Minnesota through Christmas day. A few light rain or snow showers may cross far northern Minnesota Friday. A chance of light snow visits north-central Minnesota later on Christmas day. Other than that our weather looks quiet through Saturday.

Highs on Christmas day will be cooler, with 20s and teens across most of Minnesota.

Snow chance Sunday and Monday

Most forecast models have been in flux about a snow chance later this weekend. The latest trends suggest a potentially significant snow event Sunday and Monday favoring areas from the Twin Cities northward.

NOAA’s GFS model shows similar solutions with the Canadian and European models and develops a large area of snow covering most of Minnesota Sunday and Monday.

Cavaliers vs. Wizards – Game Recap – December 3, 2021

[ad_1]

WASHINGTON — — Darius Garland had 32 points, 10 assists and eight rebounds, and the Cleveland Cavaliers went on a 19-0 run spanning part of each half in a 116-101 rout of the Washington Wizards on Friday night.

Cleveland won its fourth straight game, and this streak has been pretty emphatic. The Cavaliers beat Orlando by 13, Dallas by 18 and Miami by 26.

On Friday, Cleveland scored the final nine points of the second quarter and the first 10 of the third, pushing a 10-point advantage to 29. After Bradley Beal‘s layup snapped a drought of about 7 1/2 minutes for Washington, Isaac Okoro and Garland made 3-pointers for Cleveland that made it 81-48.

The Cavaliers led by as many as 36 points in the third. It was 99-72 after three before Washington cut into the margin in the fourth.

Jarrett Allen had 28 points and 13 rebounds for his sixth consecutive double-double.

Deni Avdija led Washington with 16 points.

FRUSTRATION

Washington’s Kentavious Caldwell-Pope was called for a technical foul after the end of the second quarter. The free throw for Cleveland came at the start of the third.

Near the end of the third, Aaron Holiday, Montrezl Harrell and Davis Bertans all received technicals from official CJ Washington, giving Garland three quick free throws. Washington also gave Cleveland’s Lamar Stevens a technical moments later.

TIP-INS

Cavaliers: Cleveland’s last 13 opponents have shot under 40% from 3-point range, the longest active streak in the NBA. Washington went 10 of 31 (32%). … The Cavaliers were without F Dean Wade (right calf strain) and F Cedi Osman (low back soreness), and G Collin Sexton is out because of a left knee meniscal tear.

Wizards: Coach Wes Unseld Jr. said before the game the team was still evaluating whether F Rui Hachimura should travel on the upcoming trip. Washington plays three games in four nights, so practice time is limited. Hachimura, who was absent for personal reasons, is now in the process of reconditioning for a return.

UP NEXT

Cavaliers: Host the Utah Jazz on Sunday.

Wizards: Visit the Toronto Raptors on Sunday night.

5 Best Weighted Stuffed Animals for 2022

[ad_1]

According to a 2016 national parent survey, 6.1 million children have been diagnosed with ADHD at some point in their lives. Of these children, approximately 3 in 10 also experienced anxiety. To help with their ADHD and anxiety, approximately 3 in 4 of these individuals received behavioral therapy or medication.

While there’s lots of research on ADHD, one type of treatment that’s less well-documented is the number of individuals with ADHD that use weighted stuffed animals to help alleviate and cope with symptoms.

Weighted stuffed animals generally look like the popular children’s toy, but tip the scales at somewhere between 2 and 5 pounds. They may have longer arms for hugging or include features to aid with fidgeting. They’re available in a wide range of styles and sizes.

Doctors and therapists specializing in grief and loss have been using weighted teddy bears for years to help their clients.

While more research into this area is needed, there has been a little research done into weighted blankets, which offer a similar type of support. One small study on weighted blankets found that 63 percent of participants reported lower anxiety after using it and 78 percent found it to have a calming effect.

The general theory behind weighted blankets and stuffed animals is that added weight can offer deep pressure touch, which is thought to calm the nervous system and trigger the release of dopamine and serotonin. Using a weighted blanket or stuffed animal may also improve sleep, which can help reduce symptoms of anxiety and ADHD.

Adults might be hesitant to appear in public with a large stuffed animal, but their cute appearances make these nonthreatening for young children. They also typically come in a variety of shapes and colors that appeal to children’s unique interests.

When it came to choosing which products to include, we looked at a variety of factors like:

  • Size. Some individuals love a larger animal they can really wrap their arms around while others prefer something a little smaller and more discrete, so we tried to include a variety of size options.
  • Material. Because this stuffed animal is going to get plenty of use, those that can be easily washed and dried stood out.
  • Price. We know that finances can vary, so we tried to include a range of options for diverse budgets.
  • Customer reviews. There’s nothing like an actual user to let you know how a product feels and holds up after continual use. We highly valued this information, and know it matters to you.

Here are some of the best weighted stuffed animals you can buy online.

Best weighted neck wrap

Intelex Warmies Animal Wrap

Craving a neck hug? The curve of this stuffed animal wrap allows it to lay smoothly across the neck. (It can also double as a travel pillow!)

It’s filled with all-natural grain and dried French lavender to provide a soothing scent. Fully microwavable, it can be used for hot and cold therapy. As an added bonus, this therapeutic wrap is available in a variety of animal shapes and meets U.S. safety standards for all ages.

Best warming lap pad

Sensory4U Panda Bear

This lap pad designed to look like a panda bear stretches 17 x 22 inches. It has a 4-pound removable glass bead-filled inner pad that can be removed and heated in the microwave to create a warm, soothing pad.

One thing to keep in mind is that it is recommended to hand wash the exterior, and with white fabric it can quickly become dirty.

Best lightweight Teddy Bear

Wild Baby Weighted Plush Pal

This 10-inch stuffed animal weighs in at less than 1 pound making it perfect for young children. It’s also ideal for travel.

Each animal is filled with natural clay beads and dried lavender to offer a relaxing smell. It can be fully heated in the microwave, and the removable therapy pack can be used as heating pad or frozen for cold therapy.

As an added bonus, the company offers free returns within 30 days.

Best for multiple senses and aromatherapy

Intelex Warmies Marshmallow Bear

This teddy bear offers a lavender scent — lavender has been associated with relaxation. This plushie weighs just under 2 pounds and is filled with grain and dried lavender.

The entire toy is microwavable for those who prefer a warmer touch. It can also be placed in the freezer for using with bumps or bruises.

Meeting the U.S. safety standards for all ages, the company makes a variety of different animals, so you can choose one that fits your personality.

Best weighted lap pad

Huggaroo Puppy

  • Price: $$$
  • Weight: 3.6 pounds

This lap pad comes designed as either a puppy or a lamb. Made of 100 percent polyester fabric, the pad is filled with hypoallergenic, odorless, food-grade, polypropylene (plastic) pellets.

The pad’s soft, plush fabric can be stroked for grounding and is soft enough to sleep with. While not so large to make travel impossible, this is a larger weighted animal.

Stretching 29 x 8 inches, both the outer cover and inner weighted insert are washable. It weighs in at 3.6 pounds.

Weighted stuffed animals not for you? Like your stuffed animal, but want to try other things, too?

  • Sniff some lavender. Whether you rub on some lavender scented lotion, take a lavender scented bath, or use a diffuser with essential oil, the smell of lavender can help to lower your blood pressure.
  • Take time to meditate or journal. Even young children can benefit from mindfulness and breathing exercises.
  • Talk to friends. There’s nothing like a good heart-to-heart. You may even want to join a class or group related to one of your interests to connect with some new people.
  • Talk with professional counselors. Sometimes we need the ear and advice of a person trained with approaches and ideas to help us sort through and manage our needs. Whether it’s a specific concern, short-term goal, or you don’t know where you’d start or what to talk about, there are different ways to access a therapist to talk to.

Even talking with your general physician or family doctor, who you’d see for physical concerns, can be a great thing. They may suggest support groups, talk therapy, or medication.

Stuffed animals aren’t just for small children. They can be useful for calming nerves, grounding, and meeting your hug needs, especially in times when you may be more isolated, and whether or not you experience ADHD.

Finding the perfect weighted stuffed animal can take a bit, but there are plenty of options to choose from. If you’re struggling with a place to start, you might consider taking a closer look at a few of the ones on our list!

New World Player Shares Great Gold-Efficient Tip While Leveling

[ad_1]

New World can be quite demanding in terms of Gold while leveling, but a player shares a trick that might save others’ coins in the long run.

new world gold-efficient trick purchase new gear no repair cheaper trading posts repair too expensive leveling

Amazon Game Studios’ New World is fast approaching its seventh week since the official release last September, and since then, many things have changed for the MMO. One of the most noticeable changes is that its player count decreased a lot due to a mix of reasons that range from game-breaking glitches like the Gold and material duping bug to the fact that some players feel like the game is repetitive in terms of enemy and quest variety. The consequence of this is that concurrent Steam users went down to around 200,000, a drastic drop from the all-time peak of over 900,000 just a few weeks ago.

However, it’s not all bad. Amazon Game Studios is really trying its best to make the game a safer and better place for everyone, starting with bans being handed out to cheaters and exploiters, including streamers caught red-handed. Furthermore, there are plans to link all trading posts in New World in order to improve the game’s economy and reduce the travel taxes as a result, due to players not having to constantly move between settlements. Some improvements are also coming to the new player experience, which is great because it means that now is a good time to pick New World up or return to the game and make a new character.

RELATED: New World Players Share What Makes Them Mad in the Game

Because leveling in New World is not always very easy due to several mechanics not being fully explained and the game being quite rich in terms of things to discover, a Reddit user by the name of Rheality_ shared a very useful tip for players making new characters. One of the most frustrating things in New World for new players is that dying damages all the gear worn by the character as well as that in the bag, and repairing some severely damaged pieces can be quite expensive. That’s why purchasing new equipment from the posts can be a much better idea.

In fact, some low-level items in New World can be pretty cheap when sold by other players at the trading posts, and the reason is that the market is a bit inflated at the moment. As such, sometimes players will find that repairing a weapon or a piece of armor might cost 20 to 50 Gold, whereas purchasing a better item might be cheaper and also be a great upgrade to the previous one.

The market is inflated because New World is still suffering from the Gold and material duping glitch, but the silver lining of this is that some items can sell for very low prices. That’s why checking trading posts out before venturing out into the wilds is always a good idea.

New World is available now on PC.

Women’s Basketball To Tip Off The Season With An Exhibition Game Against Bentley

[ad_1]

FRIARS TIP OFF AGAINST BENTLEY IN EXHIBITION PLAY… The Providence College women’s basketball team will host NCAA Division II Bentley in an exhibition game on Thursday, Nov. 4. The game will be played at Alumni Hall/Mullaney Gymnasium in Providence, R.I. and is scheduled to tip-off at 7:00 p.m.

HISTORY… Providence and Bentley played one another seven times during the infancy of the Friars’ women’s basketball program. As regional competitors, the two teams first met during the 1975-76 campaign and the series ended at the conclusion of the 1981-82 season.

SEASON OPENER VS. YALE… The Friars will officially open the season on Tuesday, Nov. 9 against Yale at Alumni Hall in Providence, R.I. Tip-off is set for 4:00 p.m. The two teams last met during the 2019-20 campaign under a unique set of circumstances. The Friars traveled to New Haven, Conn. on Nov. 5, 2019 and led 42-33 at the half, but the remainder of the game was suspended due to a scoreboard malfunction. The game was eventually completed on Dec. 3 and the Bulldogs managed to pull out an 82-79 victory. Mary Baskerville paced the Friars with 19 points and nine rebounds. Ellen Andrews (23) and Roxy Barahman (19) combined to score 42 points to lead Yale.

HOME-SWEET-HOME… The Friars will play 13 of their first 17 games at home in Alumni Hall/Mullaney Gymnasium in Providence, R.I. Through the first two months of the season, the Friars leave the city of Providence just twice. On Nov. 13, the Friars travel to Orono, Maine to face the Black Bears. On Dec. 31, Providence will travel to Cincinnati, Ohio to take on Xavier (and remain on the road to face Butler on Jan. 2). Providence’s only other road game during the months of November and December will be played at Brown University, which is located in Providence, R.I.

FRIARS SET TO MAKE THEIR RETURN TO THE DUNKIN’ DONUTS CENTER… The Friars will host a game at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center for the first time since 2010 when they welcome Connecticut on Sunday, Jan. 30. Tip-off is set for 11:00 a.m. It marks the first time Providence has played a game at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center since Feb. 6, 2010 against West Virginia.

NEW LOOK FRIARS… The Friars welcome eight new faces to the program this season, including two transfers and six freshmen. Andreana Wrister is a graduate transfer, who played four seasons at Tennessee State. Janai Crooms, a native of Cranston, R.I., has played three seasons of NCAA Division I basketball in the Big Ten at Ohio State and Michigan State. Both Wrister and Crooms are guards. Four more guards will join the rotation as freshmen in Kylee Sheppard, Meghan Huerter, Nariah Scott and Audrey Koch. Olivia Olsen and Emily Archibald join the frontcourt for their rookie seasons in the college ranks.

PROVIDENCE PICKED TO FINISH EIGHTH IN BIG EAST PRESEASON COACHES’ POLL… The Friars were picked to finish eighth in the 2021-22 BIG EAST Preseason Coaches’ Poll, which was released at the league’s annual media day at MSG in New York City. The Friars recorded 32 points in the poll and sit above Georgetown (27), Xavier (18) and Butler (17). Connecticut was a unanimous selection to win the league for a second-straight season.

MARY BASKERVILLE NAMED TO ALL-BIG EAST SECOND TEAM AT THE CONCLUSION OF 2020-21 SEASON… Last season, Mary Baskerville led Providence College in scoring (12.7 ppg), rebounding (6.5 rpg), blocked shots (1.8 bpg), steals (1.4 spg) and field-goal percentage (.538, 112-208). For her efforts, she was named to the All-BIG EAST Second Team. It marked her first postseason honor since earning BIG EAST Freshman of the Year and BIG EAST All-Freshman Team accolades in 2019.

ALYSSA GEARY LOOKS TO PICK UP WHERE SHE LEFT OFF… Senior Alyssa Geary returns for her senior year having shown steady progress in her game each of the previous three seasons. Last year, she started all 21 games ranked second among her teammates in (11.4 ppg) and blocked shots (1.3 bpg) and third in rebounding (4.8 rpg) and assists (2.4 apg). Geary recorded a team-best 15 double-digit scoring games, including six-straight to finish the season. She led the Friars in scoring (14.5 ppg), rebounding (6.5 rpg) and blocked shots (2.0 bpg) during the BIG EAST Tournament, including 19 points and nine rebounds in the Friars’ First Round victory over Butler (Mar. 3).

FRIARS IN THE POSTSEASON… The Friars’ last appeared in the postseason during the 2018-19 campaign, when their current senior class came on to the scene as freshmen. Providence’s 2019 WNIT selection marked the program’s 15th post-season appearance overall and first since 2010. In 2019-20, NCAA and WNIT Championships were canceled to the Covid-19 pandemic, and Friars did not qualify for postseason during the abbreviated 2020-21 campaign.  Complete post-season breakdown below (records in parentheses).

Best Far Cry 6 Tips, Tricks, Secrets, Gears, Weapons, And More

[ad_1]

Dani Rojas stands in a field on a sunny day in Far Cry 6.

Screenshot: Ubisoft / Kotaku

Far Cry 6 blows a lot of stuff up. But the biggest thing it blows up is the Far Cry formula. Yes, as many have noted, there’s a lot of fundamental overlap with every other game in Ubisoft’s long-running open-world shoot-everything-you-see series. When you get into the weeds, though, you’ll find that Far Cry 6 introduces subtle tweaks that beget a different approach to what you’re used to.

Two of us—weekend editor Zack Zweizen and staff writer Ari Notis—have collectively played [crunches numbers] “Oh no…” of Far Cry 6 this past week. Here are 22 tips we wished we knew going in.

Get Off The Tiny Starter-Island ASAP

After the initial prologue, you are tossed onto a small island filled with a few places to explore and some early tutorial missions. You can stay here and explore for hours and hours, easily, but don’t do that. Instead, once the game unlocks the rest of the map and tells you to go out and free Yara, do exactly that. The game truly opens up once you get off the island. If you want to come back and hound for secrets, you can always return.

Start With The Valle De Oro Region

Specifically, look for the “Maximus Matanzas” mission. This questline was our favorite of the game and more importantly, it unlocks a new radio station that makes driving around the island much more enjoyable. Oh, and you get a “Zebra” too.

But Do Get Moving On All Three Plotlines At Once

Each of Far Cry 6’s three main plotlines features a faction. Those factions each make their base at a camp, nestled in the starting areas of their respective region. You can build six helpful facilities at these camps:

  • Hideout Network (Gives you the wingsuit and some fast-travel locations)
  • Guerrilla Garrison (Beefs up your fighters, plus grants scouting bonuses)
  • Fishing Hut (Fuck fishing)
  • Hunter’s Lodge (Unlocks the bow, Far Cry’s historically best weapon)
  • Bandidos Barracks (Allows you to recruit more fighters)
  • La Cantina (Opens up options for temporary buffs, and makes Ari very, very hungry)

The catch? You can only build two at each one. But by dipping your toe into every one of the game’s plots, you can unlock all three camps in short order. See where we’re going with this?

Dani walks in a camp in Far Cry 6 at sunset.

It’s not a bug: When you’re at a camp, the game switches to third-person.
Screenshot: Ubisoft / Kotaku

Your First Camp Facility Should Be A Hideout Network

All of the six camp facilities provide helpful bonuses and new features, but the Hideout Network is the most useful. It lets you, for a small fee, unlock tons of new fast travel spots around the map. Best part? Many of these will be in parts of the map you haven’t traveled to yet, but you can still teleport using the map, even without visiting them first. This is very useful for getting around the island quickly. Another fast-travel tip…

Plus, Fast-Traveling Saves The Game

Much ado has been made about how Far Cry 6, unlike some prior entries, doesn’t have a manual save option. If you want to cut your session short while also ensuring you don’t lose any sweet sweet unlocks, just fast-travel to any available fast-travel spot (camp, town, you name it). That’ll guarantee your progress is saved.

Actually Take The Time To Do The Benito’s Bandidos Missions

At camps, you can access a text-based mini-game called Benito’s Bandidos. It’s pretty straightforward: You send troops of fighters out on missions. At various intervals, they ask you to give them “orders” (for instance: They’ve hit a blockade, and need some help figuring out how to pass it). Each order you give comes with a percentage check. Successfully pass three of those, and you complete the mission. It sounds frivolous, but you can get some helpful items—including a gold-plated auto pistol—from completing them.

Right From The Start, You Can Do It All

The game never really tells you any of this, so we will. In past Far Cry games, you would level up and unlock new abilities, like being able to air assassinate people or takedown bigger, armored baddies. But that’s not how Far Cry 6 works and while a few abilities are tied to some pieces of gear, most of your badass toolbox of murderin’ moves is available to you right away. So you can quietly takedown any enemy you encounter, you can chain takedowns and you can tap the right trigger while doing a takedown and toss a knife at a nearby enemy.

Oh, You Can Also Hijack Vehicles

Zack spent almost 30 hours playing this game before he realized that you could click the right stick (on console) to hijack vehicles. This is very useful as it instantly kills both the driver and the passenger of whatever car or truck is unlucky enough to get too close.

Talk To Every NPC With An Exclamation Point

On your travels around Yara, you’ll come across NPCs with little exclamation points floating over their heads. (You can also see them indicated on the minimap.) Take a second to interact with every single one. They’ll give you coordinates for gear caches, treasure hunts, vehicular races, and more optional activities. Sure, you can find that stuff just by ambling around aimlessly. But getting the specific bearings makes finding it all way, way easier.

Highlight Collectibles

Far Cry 6 features a head-spinningly deep suite of options. Few are more helpful than the ability to highlight collectibles. Open up the settings, then go to the HUD options. You’ll see an option that allows you to turn on an outline around every collectible item you come across. (You can also set it so enemies are outlined as well, if you so please.) Bonus points for changing the outline color. Can’t miss a pickup if it’s highlighted in neon pink!

Dani flies above Yara in a wingsuit in Far Cry 6.

Note: When you travel via wingsuit, you don’t defog untraversed areas of the map.

Take Out AA Guns So You Can Drop In From Above

When fast-traveling to towns, camps, or hideouts, you have two options: Your standard fast travel and a skydive route. The standard fast travel just plops you in the camp as you would expect. The better option is to drop in via the sky. This lets you use your wingsuit, giving you a quick and easy way to fly to any nearby location. Far Cry 6’s map is enormous. But everything seems smaller—or at least more manageable—when you travel as the bird flies.

Don’t Skip The Horses

In a world filled with tanks, helicopters, wingsuits, and super-fast cars, you might be tempted to never ride a horse. But horses in Far Cry 6 are more than just a new gimmick. Horses are very fast and can be used to easily traverse all the various trails and tiny hidden paths across Yara. They also make short work of mountains too. And another bonus: Horses are quiet. So you can sneak up on enemies.

Where AP rounds work against armor, blast rounds are great against vehicles.

Always Have A Gun With Armor-Piercing Rounds

Far Cry 6 adds a new ammo feature. It’s a bit annoying. Just stick to using armor piercing rounds. You can craft and equip these via any workbench you find out in the world. If you go for headshots, armored rounds will drop helmet-wearing soldiers as well as unarmored baddies too. The only problem is if you don’t hit someone in the head or shoot something not wearing armor (like a dog), as it can take many more AP rounds to kill them. Does this make any logical sense? Not really, but here we are. So always keep a gun with standard or soft target rounds. We suggest an assault rifle or SMG, something that can take care of groups of dogs and soldiers in a few seconds.

Customize Guns, Add A Silencer On Something

As with past games, getting a silenced pistol or rifle turns you into a god, able to take out bases in mere seconds without alerting enemies or setting off alarms. So we highly recommend you stick a silencer on a gun as soon as you can using a workbench. When you’re checking out attachments, the game will tell you how a suppressor will affect your gun—not via stats but via…words? Pick one that says “slow to overheat,” or at the very least veer away from one that says “very quick to overheat.” (When a silencer overheats in Far Cry 6, the silencer stops making bullets silent.)

Weapon Attachments Work For The Whole Weapon Category

Say you invest in a snazzy scope for your AK-47, a killer assault rifle. But then you unlock the M16A, an even better assault rifle. You don’t need to repurchase that scope. You can just slot it on the new gun. This is true for all weapon attachments. So a laser sight for your 1911 pistol will work fine on your other handguns, a suppressor will work on your shotguns (lol), an ACOG scope will work on your snipers, and so on.

Dani selects an RMS-18 in Far Cry 6 from the weapon wheel.

Four bullets means “full auto,” three means “burst,” one means…Yeah, you get it.
Screenshot: Ubisoft / Kotaku

You Can Change Your Weapon’s Rate Of Fire On The Fly

It’s not possible for every weapon, but some fully automatic weapons can also be fired as single-shot or as burst-fire rifles. Just hold L1 (on PlayStation) to bring up the weapon wheel. Then hover over the one you’ve equipped and tap the Square button to cycle through your options.

Keep An EMP Grenade On You At All Times

In the same vein as weapon attachments, once you unlock a mod for your Supremo—the ugly if gameplay-changing backpacks—you can put it on any other Supremo. That goes for EMP grenades, easily the most helpful mod of the bunch. These are useful for stopping any vehicle, yes. But more importantly, they can stop tanks, which you can either jump on and steal or get the option to destroy via a quick cutscene. This can make some tough missions much easier to complete. Even better, if you steal a tank you can just use it on all the baddies and enemy vehicles in the area.

Look For Gear That Has Useful Abilities

A lot of gear in the game gives you bonuses like “Deal more damage” or “Improved fire resistance” and that gear can be useful, but I recommend looking out for and equipping gear that gives you new perks or abilities. For example, Zack found a face mask that unlocks the ability to takedown enemies from the front, even if they are fully alert and are shooting him. Very handy. Other gear lets you sneak and crouch-walk much faster. And if you don’t like the way you look, well don’t worry because…

You Can Totally Transmog Stuff

Unlike certain other Ubisoft games (cough, cough, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla), Far Cry 6 starts with transmog—the option to change your gear’s appearance without changing its stats—right out of the gate. It’s easy to miss, though. First, hover over any piece of gear you want to change. Tap Triangle (on PlayStation), then navigate down to the symbol in the lower-left hand corner that looks like an eyeball doing a front flip. You should see cosmetic options for every piece of gear you’ve unlocked up to that point.

Take Out Alarms And Mark Enemies Before Starting A Fight

If you’ve played a Far Cry game, then odds are you already know to do this, but for those who might be new to the series or haven’t played in some time: scout out bases before entering. Use your phone (up on the D-pad) to mark targets, cameras, alarms, and more. Keep your eyes on the minimap too. If you see a red splotch on the map, that means there is at least one unmarked soldier in that area. You can also mark enemies by zooming in on them with a scope. Once you’ve marked people, try to take out the big, yellow alarms using arrows or silenced weapons. When you take out all alarms, the game helpfully lets you know. At that point, they can’t call for backup. Feel free to go loud at that point, if you so desire.

Do Some Treasure Hunts For Fun (And Better Weapons)

Treasure hunts are some of the best side quests in Far Cry 6, often mixing puzzles, platforming and strange stories together into bite-sized bits of action and fun. For example, one of them has you exploring a haunted castle. Another great reason to play them: weapons. Many of these missions end with a new weapon, often one of the game’s special “unique weapons.” Early on these can be super useful, featuring perks and attachments that you might not have access to yet. Zack got a rocket launcher early on after completing a treasure and it made the game much easier because he could quickly destroy annoying helicopters.

Don’t Forget About Your Amigos!

Use one that works with your playstyle. Some amigos, like the crocodile you get early on, are perfect for folks who like to run in guns blazing. Others, like Boomer (yes, the dog from Far Cry 5; don’t think about it too much) are best suited for sneaky players. Zack prefers Boomer, as he marks enemies around you and also, he’s a good boy too. Ari disagrees (he sucks) and prefers Champagne, the big cat, which is sadly only available via additional DLC (the Vice Pack). Whichever amigo you choose, make sure you check out their abilities via the amigos’ section of the pause menu and see if your favorite has alternate costumes. Sadly Boomer doesn’t. Smells like DLC, though.

Baker named honorable mention for STATS FCS National Defensive Player of the Week

[ad_1]

By Thomas Corhern, TTU Sports Information

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – True freshman Jalon Baker had an incredible game for the Tennessee Tech football team on Saturday, helping to set up the Golden Eagles’ 28-17 win over Southeast Missouri.

His efforts were recognized on Monday as he was named an honorable mention for STATS FCS National Defensive Player of the Week as well as the Ohio Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Week by the College Sports Madness website.

Baker, a freshman out of Valdosta, Ga., recorded 10 total tackles and a sack, but it was the takeaway that proved to be a momentum-shifter. With Southeast Missouri driving, Redhawk quarterback C.J. Ogbonna attempted a pass, but Tavian Johnson was able to tip the ball. Baker was there for the interception at the SEMO 40 and returned it to the 25. On the next play, Willie Miller threw a 25-yard touchdown strike to Quinton Cross to put the Golden Eagles on the board.

The 10 tackles stands as his career-best as he holds on to 18 total stops through five games.

The Golden Eagles return to action on Saturday as they travel to North Carolina Central for a 1 p.m. contest. Following a visit to Nissan Stadium to take on Tennessee State next week, the Golden Eagles return home on November 23 to face Virginia-Lynchburg.

Timeline Of Road Trip With Fiancé Brian Laundrie, Notable Dates And Events – CBS New York

[ad_1]

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – The search for Gabby Petito has apparently come to a tragic end. The FBI said they believe Petito’s body was found Sunday in Grand Teton National Park.

The 22-year-old Blue Point, N.Y. native went missing after going on a cross-country road trip with her fiancé, Brian Laundrie. He mysteriously returned to the home they shared in Florida in the van they were traveling in, but without Petito. Police have wanted to question Laundrie about Petito’s disappearance, but he declined – and then apparently disappeared himself.

Here are notable dates in the search for Petito:

LATE JUNE: According to North Port, Florida Police, Petito and Laundrie depart on a cross-country trip, planning to reach the West Coast, traveling in her White Ford Transit van. The two were documenting their trip on YouTube and social media. Throughout the trip, Petito maintained regular contact with her family, according to authorities.

JULY:  According to her family and as documented in her Instagram account, Petito and Laundrie visit numerous national parks and locations, including:

  • July 10, Great Sand Dunes National Park
  • July 16, Zion National Park
  • July 20, Cedar Breaks
  • July 21, Bryce Canyon National Park
  • July 26, Mystic Hot Springs
  • July 28, Canyonlands National Park, Arch Mesa

AUGUST: The two continue their trip, with stops at Arches National Park.

August 12th is the same day Petito and Laundrie had an encounter with police in Moab, Utah.

A witness reported a physical altercation between the couple. Police stopped their van for a wellness check. The two told police they pushed and shoved one another outside a grocery store.

Petito scratched Laundrie, but told police they were in love and didn’t want to press charges. According to the police report, Laundrie told officers that traveling for the last four or five months created an “emotional strain between them.”

Police concluded it was not a “domestic assault,” but a “mental health crisis.”

SEPTEMBER:

  • Sept. 1: According to North Port, Florida police, Brian Laundrie returns to Florida in the van they shared without Gabby Petito.
  • Sept. 11: Gabby Petito is reported missing by her family in Blue Point, N.Y. That same day, police in North Port, Florida locate the van they were traveling in.
  • Sept. 14: Gabby Petito’s parents continue their pleas for information on her whereabouts, and say Laundrie is not speaking with authorities. Police in Florida say Laundrie’s silence is hindering the investigation.

Many people are wondering why Mr. Laundrie would not make a statement or speak with law enforcement in the face of Ms. Petito’s absence. In my experience, intimate partners are often the first person law enforcement focuses their attention on in cases like this and the warning that ‘any statement made will be used against you’ is true, regardless of whether my client had anything to do with Ms. Petito’s disappearance. As such, on the advice of counsel Mr. Laundrie is not speaking on this matter.

I have been informed that the North Port, Florida police have named Brian Laundrie as a ‘person of interest’ in this matter. This formality has not really changed the circumstances of Mr. Laundrie being the focus and attention of law enforcement and Mr. Laundrie will continue to remain silent on the advice of counsel.

  • Sept. 16: Full body camera video of the encounter between Moab, Utah police, Petito, and Laundrie is obtained.
  • Sept. 17: North Port, Florida Police speak to Laundrie’s family at their request but do not speak to Brian. Later in the evening, Laundrie’s attorney releases a statement saying Laundrie’s current whereabouts are unknown and the FBI is looking for both Petito and Laundrie.
  • Sept. 18: Authorities search the 24,500-acre Carlton Reserve in Sarasota County for Laundrie after a tip from his family. The search is called off in the evening due to darkness. At the same time, multiple agencies search for Petito in the Wyoming wilderness.
  • Sept. 23: A federal arrest warrant is issued for Brian Laundrie. The charge in the indictment makes no mention of homicide, but rather refers to unauthorized access of a Capitol One bank card.
